They've abandoned their duty to be the watchdog over government in favor of being in bed with the politicians they used to keep an eye on. "Journalism," such as it is these days, is no more than tabloid speculation and trash backed up by the flimsiest of evidence and spun to fit a narrative. Networks don't care which reason, so long as ratings stay high. The louder and crazier someone gets, the more people tune in to either watch the train wreck, or to support it.
Because it keeps people tuned in, and keeps the money flowing. Trump Pravda (formerly known as Fox News) and all the alphabet soup networks are all complicit and guilty of intentionally misleading people to endlessly perpetuate the "us vs. And given how our morning production meetings went I know it's not just a local bias. I've seen several instances where a journalist twisted the facts of a story to fit their left-leaning narrative, in one case even gleefully hoping that it would hurt a senator's reelection bid. As someone who spent several years of their previous career in broadcast journalism, I can tell you from personal experience that yes.both sides lie.
